Harvest Gathering Festival Offers Fun for Families

Everyone is invited to the Harvest Gathering Festival, a family-friendly fundraiser for Helping Hands Food Pantry. The festival will be held on Friday, October 27, from 5-9 PM at Hidden Creek Farms, 2181 Vermontville Hwy., Charlotte.

Harvest Gathering attendees will enjoy fall-themed contests, music, food and more. Admission is free! A donation of $1 per activity is suggested.

Here are a few of the fun activities planned:

  • Remarks and kickoff event 5pm
  • Michigan Nordic Fire Festival’s traveling axe wall 5-7pm
  • Hayrides 5-7pm
  • Silent auction 5-7pm; live auction 7:30pm
  • Lansing Lugnuts’ balloon twister Chris Cornwell
  • Pumpkin carving/painting contest
  • Costume contest sponsored by Pure Hearts of Michigan
  • Animal footprints in clay by Vedder Taxidermy
  • Face painting
  • Bonfire 7-9pm

“We are grateful to Hidden Creek Farms and all our sponsors for making this event possible,” says Amanda Thompson, executive director of Helping Hands Food Pantry. “Come have fun and find out how you can help us reach our goal of a hunger-free community.”

Pumpkin Carving/Painting Contest details:

Bring a carved or painted pumpkin to be judged by the community. The first 100 entries will receive a token for a free cone at Dairy Queen. The winner will receive activity bracelets for the Country Mill.

Costume Contest details:

Family-friendly costumes, please! Costumes will be judged in four categories:

  • Funniest
  • Most Creative
  • Cutest
  • Best Couple

The winner in each category will win a $25 gift card.
